Join the Band!
Do you want to play fun music, support the athletic teams, and be part of a famous band with "Chicago" in it's name? Then you should join the University of Chicago Band.
Unlike the University itself, the Band has no application process and doesn't cost you a thing. You don't have to be a musical virtuoso to join, although we wouldn't hold it against you. As long as you've seen music before and want to have fun playing music, we have a place for you in the Band.
Being a student at the U of C can be a lot of work, so we try to keep the commitment required as small as possible. We practice once a week: Thursday night, from 8-10, in the Ratner Athletic Center. We meet in the Video Viewing Room: take a dog-leg left after going through the turnstile, then take the first left, and the door's on your right (or follow the guy with the sousaphone). Our performances are on weekends.
If you'd like to join, or ask some questions before you plunge in, contact our president. If this Internet thing is too impersonal for you, feel free to show up at any of our practices (check our schedule for details) or performances (ditto on that schedule thing).
